Thanks to my research directions of neuroengineering and creating systems to help people in third world countries, I have had many amazing opportunites to speak about my work and be funded to continue my work. Listed below are a subset of the publicity and scholarships that I have recieved.
Honors Thesis entitled: A smoke removing DC-DC converter composed of a 7-stage class-DE rectifier and a class phi 2 inverter. Will be uploaded to Stanford Libraries soon.
Honors Thesis entitled: Exploring visual memories in fruit flies via a closed loop visual system. Will be uploaded to Stanford Libraries soon.
I was the primary author and oral presenter at 2017 IEEE Compel: with a paper titled: A portable electrostatic precipitator to reduce respiratory deaths in rural environments *Also available on Google Scholar.
In recognition of my electrostatic precipitator project, academic excellence, and intersectionality with neurobiology I was featured in a Stanford EE Spotlight alongside Stanford professors and graduate students.
I was the only undergraduate presenting, and spoke about EE Honors Research at Stanford.
Allen J. and Kathleen Lauer Scholarship, Gabilan Undergrad Diversity Scholarship, Sally Ann Foote Scholarship, George and Barbara Mrkonic Scholarship, Packaged Foundation Diversity Scholarship, University General Scholarship, SPOT Scholarship Fund, and Stanford Scholarship Fund.
I was one of 100 students recognized for my excellence as a member of the Bay Area community
1 of 7 Kaiser Permanente Asian American Scholarship Recipients for all of Northern California: I was recognized out of 300 applicants for being an Asian American leader of the future through creating and deploying my water purification project and founding the language outreach club.
1 of 8 Los Gatos Lions Club Scholarship Recipients: Out of my 440 person high school class 8 people received this scholarship for commitment to the community. My commitment was through implementing and deploying my water purification project and founding the Language Outreach Club which taught Bangladeshi students English skills that increased their job opportunities.
Had a 2.5 hour filming session with HBO’s Showtime in Los Angeles for a series about how global warming is further limiting drinking water options in Dhaka Bangladesh.
Spoke with Google about my experience leading up to and at the Google science fair, and my implementation of my water purification project in Bangladesh. Here is a link to the interview.
Presented at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco about my water purification project. During the presentation it was great to talk to young budding scientists about how to take science projects and make them actionable in the field.
I was 1 of 5 International Google Science Fair Finalists: Out of ~7,000 applicants I became 1 of 5 global finalists in the 15-16 age category. I designed, developed and deployed UVc (ultraviolet-c), solar powered, sub $25 water purification system in two of Sajida Foundation’s day-care centers for street children. The system had to be deployable in rural villages and low lying flood affected coastal regions of Bangladesh (where I did extensive field work), so that the people who needed the water most could have access to it.
I was 1 of 13 International Scientific American, Science in Action Finalists. This was thanks to the work I did with my water purification project.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed on Science Friday with Ira Flatow. It was an honor to talk about my water purification project and my plans for it. My interview begins at 12:50 here.
Spoke about my water purification project, and all of my goals with how to deploy in in Dhaka, Bangladesh so that the system could start helping people.
